Since I haven’t posted for a while, I thought I’d talk about what I’ve been doing for the past few weeks. As always, there were quite a few trips taken last month, both during and after my visit with my long-time friend from Columbus, Ohio (my old stomping grounds). We had a great time together. She’s one of those friends that you may not see for a couple of years, but don’t miss a beat when you get together again.
In addition to getting a mani-pedi, we went to the Columbia River Gorge while my friend was here — no hiking (my friend didn’t bring hiking shoes), but Multnomah Falls is not to be missed by any visitor. . .

We also went to the coast — another must-see destination — but once again (see previous blog) the weather was suboptimal.

We went to the coast again last week and the weather was nice, so I’m inclined to think the inclement weather has something to do with guests. I’ll be able to test that theory the next time someone comes to visit, I suppose.
We’ve had a couple of really nice trips lately, excluding one to a location we’ve been trying to find for several months. I was determined, so three tries later, we finally found it — Niagara Falls (the Oregon variety)!

I had noticed that the websites listing it note that it’s a spring/fall destination, but I wasn’t deterred by that fact. Unfortunately, since we went in the summer — after 83 days without any appreciable rainfall — it was less than interesting. In fact, it didn’t have any flow at all!

We were excited we had finally found it, but I’m not sure it’s a destination we’ll return to even if I could find it again . . . Here was my consolation prize:

Where we will return is to the Swan Island Dahlia Farm in Canby, Oregon. It’s 40 acres of dahlias — all colors, shapes, and sizes. Here are just a few of the photographs I took there:

Next time: Eagle Creek and Astoria!
